Our thermal modeling team performs CFD analysis on thermal systems if the primary heat transfer mode is three-dimensional convection, or if plume radiance is needed for infrared signature analysis. We frequently combine CFD analysis with thermal modeling in RadTherm. Our team's experience with CFD is almost exclusively focused on solving multimode heat transfer problems, from underhood thermal flows to air conditioning and heating air flows in aircraft environmental control systems. We employ a range of CFD codes based on which program is best-suited to the problem at hand.
In addition to standard thermal-flow analysis, we have developed a subvolume method of translating bulk flows from CFD into 1-D flow networks in our proprietary thermal analysis software. This subvolume method allows for full transient thermal analysis with varying fluid and surface temperatures, while keeping the overal flow pattern identified using steady-state CFD analysis.
In summary, our team is widely considered the most advanced team of thermal management and heat transfer engineers available for contract engineering services. By keeping our focus on practical methods and solutions, we deliver high value to clients from a wide range of industries: manufacturing process design, architecture, aerospace, and heavy equipment.
